sts to barren and arid desert-like landscapes. Start the trek in Syange after a pleasant drive from Kathmandu and then Pokhara. The lower Annapurna region is filled with terraced fields and foothill villages. You will find the locals to be most friendly and welcoming. Let the peaceful sound of waterfalls and streams put your mind at ease.
From the fertile lowlands, we trek up and into the Manang district. The lushness of forests and fields turns to rocky, rugged highlands. The backdrop for most of the Manang villages is the mighty Himalaya. The days are not too long as we go further simply due to the high altitude. This gives trekkers plenty of time to explore the villages and get to know the local villagers.
In Yak Kharka and Phedi, notice the mountainous landscape in every single direction as yaks graze just near you. Time to cross the famous Thorong La Pass (5416 meters), the highest point of our journey. It’s a true adventure waking up at the crack of dawn to tackle the ascent. Despite the exhaustion you might feel, there will be a smile from ear to ear at the top of the Thorong La Pass. From here, experience jaw-dropping views of Annapurna, Tilicho, Tukuche, Dhaulagiri, and many more soaring summits.
Descend into the rain shadow of the Annapurna range into yet another unique environment. The area is completely dry, with pieces of green oasis during the rainy months. The first destination is Muktinath, full of powerful natural and spiritual wonders. Imagine brown hills, grey rocks, and orange cliffs (with caves dug into them!) – it seems like another planet here! Pay homage at Muktinath Temple, one of the famous pilgrimage sites in Nepal. Dip into the ice-cold waters and feel a boost of life. The energy and happiness from the pilgrims will make you feel happy and grateful to be in such a wonderful place.
The Kali Gandaki river valley makes up the rest of the scenic trail. Descend to Jomsom – district headquarters of the Mustang region. Celebrate a successful and memorable trek. The following day, we take a flight to Pokhara, staring down at the amazing trail that we have covered on foot.
Join the Annapurna HalfCircle Trek anytime during the year. For the best weather, though, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the preferred seasons. In general, the skies are clearer and the landscape is more beautiful. Crystal Himalaya Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. manages the package with complete care.
