the Khumbu (Everest) region cannot be missed! See the tallest mountains in the world while hiking through pine, fir, and other forests. These forests are home to the Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Black Bear, and more! While trekking through the Everest region, you will learn about the unique Sherpa culture. Sherpas are of course known for their natural knack for climbing and mountaineering. However, many do not know about how kind and hospitable they are. You will be surprised by their generosity. Also, they practice Tibetan Buddhism, and signs of it are scattered throughout the trail. Take some time to explore the several monasteries on the trail, including the huge Tengboche Monastery and the mysterious Khumjung Monastery, which houses what is said to be the scalp of a Yeti. Begin the trek to Everest Base Camp in Lukla, after a lovely flight from Kathmandu. Hike up through forests and around fields of crops to Namche Bazaar. Namche is the trade and trekker hub of the region, with dozens of guest houses, bakeries, and fun streets to wander around in. After some days of climbing through forests to a rugged alpine landscape, we are ready to reach Everest Base Camp (5364 meters). Feast your eyes on the quintessential Khumbu region beauty. Look at the settlement of tents, full of mountaineers awaiting their opportunity to summit Mount Everest. The Everest Base Camp Trek is an opportunity to see the massive Himalayan peaks that cross 8000 meters - Mt. Everest, Lhotse, AmaDablam, Makalu and many more. The views of Khumbu Icefall and various glaciers are spectacular. Gorakshep (5380m), a tiny mountain village, is the departure point to hike to base camp.  Finally, we will have the opportunity to trek up to Kala Pattar (5545m) for the best view of Mt. Everest. Next is a visit to Kala Patthar (5545 meters), the highest point of the trek which also has the best viewpoint. Enjoy the panoramic view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and the expansive Khumbu Glacial Valley from the top. It is an unforgettable sight. Take some photos before starting the descent back to Lukla, where the trek concludes. Take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a high alpine adventure! Join the Everest Base Camp Trek anytime of the year. For the best weather, though, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the preferred seasons.
