Manaslu Circuit Trek
- 16 Days - 15 nights
The Manaslu Circuit Trek is far from your usual Himalayan trail. The route lies between two of Nepal’s most famous trekking regions (Langtang National Park and the Annapurna Conservation Area), though it is great underrated. The trail will exceed your expectations in every way. The kindness of the Gurung and other local ethnic groups combined with the high mountain sceneries make this trek s
- Circle Mount Manaslu (8156 meters), the 8th highest mountain in the world
- Cross the thrilling Larkya Pass (5100 meters) for awe-inspiring views of HimlungHimal (7126m), Annapurna II (7937m), Kang Guru (6981m), and more
- Follow the BuriGandaki River through a variety of amazing landscapes
- Learn about the unique and isolated cultures found in the Nupri region
- Few tourists on the trail, giving you an authentic experience with culture and nature
o special. Traverse through a vast array of landscapes as you follow the BuriGandaki River higher into the alpine region. Some say the trail is comparable to the Annapurna Circuit Trek, minus the loads of trekkers.
Spend a few weeks hiking around the 8th highest peak in the world – Manaslu (8156 meters / 26,758 feet). Along the journey, encounter some of the most welcoming and kind people you will ever meet. At the beginning of the trail, pass through and stay in mostly Gurung villages. Trekking higher into the hills, in the upper BuriGandaki, enter what is known as the Nubri region. Locals are directly related to Tibetans, who settled in the area over 400 years ago. Their culture, language, and dress is completely different from most Nepalese. The mountain views from this region are stunning!
The trail starts in Arughat, a bustling bazaar in the foothills of the grand Himalaya. Carve along the BuriGandaki river through terraced rice fields and quaint villages. Breathe in the fresh air and feel the smile on your face as you enjoy the sensational landscape. Keep an eye out for the various species lingering in the rhododendron and bamboo forests. There are chances of seeing the musk deer, Himalayan blck bear, langur, Himalayan goral, and in the higher regions, the blue sheep (bharal). The collection of amazing wildlife adds much allure to the adventure.
Keep going up, taking a day in Samdo to acclimatize on the way. Here, we do an amazing day hike to either Manaslu Base Camp (4900m) or Pungyen (4070m) to prepare for the ascent of Larkya La (Pass) – one of the most dramatic passes in the Himalaya. A few days after Samdo, we find ourselves at the pass. Wake up early and start hiking. After passing the majestic frozen lakes, begin the steep ascent. At the top, the feeling of bliss overshadows the exhaustion from the high altitude. Set your sights on HimlungHimal (7126m), Annapurna II (7937m), Kang Guru (6981m), which seem like they are right in front of us.
After the pass, it’s a straight descent for a few days to Besi Sahar. We celebrate an unforgettable trek when we get there!
Take the Manaslu Circuit Trek anytime during the year. For the best weather, though, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the preferred seasons. In general, the skies are clearer and the landscape is more beautiful. Crystal Himalaya Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. manages the package with complete care.
